What the TV needs
- Internet, by Wi-Fi or cable
- Power
- The app, installed from the TV’s store
- On Android TV and Google TV, optionally the “display over other apps” permission so the app starts by itself. The app asks once.
Honest limits
- Fire TV never starts the app by itself. Open it from the home row after power-on.
- The app can’t replace the TV’s home screen.
- The TV’s own sleep timer and HDMI inputs are the TV’s business.
